January 2024 - Domed Rings

This project had everyone working in quarter scale or smaller to create a tiny world within a domed ring. What a unique way to wear a miniature!
Removing the ring band creates a tiny snow globe!

February 2024 - Boxes and Bows

This projects included a bow maker for 1:12, 1:24, and 1:48 sizes plus package blanks to decorate. Everyone learned how to wrap and decorate a package, some people also made packages of gift wrapping paper suitable for any gift giving occassion.

March 2024 - Polyer clay Bread

This month everyone became a baker, making carb-tastic breads from polyer clay. Some of the creations have already found a home in an English Tea House and there are Baravian preztels ready to decorate an ice skating party vingette. One member makes actual to-be-eaten-by-humans bread, so she decorated the spoon she uses to scoop flour, creating a bread handle for her bread spoon.

April 2024 - APril Showers Bring Flowers

The fine art of papercraft was explored this month with quilling Spring flowers and baskets. With 14 different flower instructions and 4 different kinds of baskets, the projects were easily customized to any scale.

May 2024 - You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream

Using tiny molds, the cookies and bars were made from polyer clay and then filled with ice cream to make fantastic summer dessert sandwiches. Scoops of ice cream and slices of fruit were used to top miniature puff pasteries as well.

june 2024 - Creativity Taking Flight - Origami

Expanding what can be done with paper, this month was all about creasing, folding, and tucking paper in to delicate shapes that are thousands of years old. Starting with a star, we then gave flight to butterflies and cranes of all sizes. This is a very exacting art form which requires patience and practice!

AUGUST 2024 - Tea Party

A large selection of teacups and saucers got this party started. FIMO was provided to add customized sculpting and generous club members brought landscaping materials, beads, jewelry finds, handmade paper, and flooring to help add the perfect touch to the scenes being created using teacups and saucers. There were also two different templates to make teacups out of paper.

September 2024 - Reading: McLoughlin’s New Folding Doll House

Although reading is fundamental, this miniature book can't be read, but it can be unfolded and popped up into a dollhouse! The design, done by a very talented miniature artist may be found here: https://openhouseminiatures.wordpress.com/2013/03/01/how-to-make-a-folding-dolls-house/ along with all sorts of other amazing projects. We made this magnificant pop up house book in two sizes.

October 2024 - Felting Basics

Often, it's easier to learn a new skill at a "normal" size then move towards making it miniature as you perfect the skill. This month our miniature artists learned how to do felting with great success. In fact, some people were so successful they took the original learners kit and created something entirely new - in the case a snowman ornament Christmas became a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. At CMS we're nothing if not flexible and always encourage creative ventures.
